Team dysfunction can lead to factions and discord that will hinder any team’s ability to achieve its goals. These are five steps that your team can take in order to strengthen relationships and reach their goals.
1. Over time, strong relationships are the foundation of good relationships.
Trust is the glue that holds all relationships together, including those between leaders and their followers. Integrity is the basis of trust. Brian Tracy. It takes time to create the most meaningful things in your life. Trust can only be built if integrity is demonstrated repeatedly. It takes longer to build trust when there is a larger group. Because you interact more often, it is easier to learn about your teammates if there are only two or three members of your team. Integrity can be displayed quickly or not. It can take time to bring together five to ten colleagues. It takes time to develop trust and build relationships that are trustworthy.
2. Use patience. “Never cut what is possible to untie.”
Joseph Joubert. To develop patience, you must be able to see the perspectives of others. Everyone believes that their situation is unique, their problems more significant, and their faults less critical. In other words, each person believes their circumstances merit special consideration and that our teammates need to be more patient with them. We must change the other person’s mind to overcome this. It is easier to put yourself in the shoes of another person, and it will make it easier for us to resolve issues rather than emotionally cutting off our teammates.
3. Recognize the differences between your teammates and how they will cause problems.

Your greatest joy at work will come from your colleagues, but your worst pain will be caused by them. High-ranking executives spend seven hours a day dealing with the complex problems of people. When moving your team forward, keep in mind that it can involve positive and negative relationships. It’s impossible to have the best without the worst. Everyone has weaknesses, lousy work habits, and personal problems that they don’t see. You can show your teammates the same compassion you would want to receive for your shortcomings and help keep your team moving forward.
4. Understanding where patience is needed in others will help you to be more patient.
Be patient before you try to make others happy. “- Bill Bluestein. It is vital that we are aware of our own weaknesses. Ask someone you know to share their frustrations with you. Accept the list without being defensive. While you don’t necessarily have to agree with all of the items on this list, it does reflect how you are perceived. It’s what you do and say. To grow, you need to look beyond the list and consider if it reflects who you really are. You can change the perception of gruff if you don’t think so. You must identify the root cause of your anger if you are outraged. It helps to remember that others are patient with you.
5. Recognize that all relationships are opportunities.

Encourage positive action among your team members and those closest to you. These are four ways to increase opportunity.
Help. Encourage your teammates to take the initiative and show their ideas. Help them when they need it, but not in a condescending way.
Mentor. Set an example. Answer their questions but only give direction when it is essential.
Appreciation. Respect their ideas and be open to hearing them. Don’t criticize their efforts.
Repayment. You must close the loop on The Golden Rule. You must repay their kindness and efforts.
This is the bottom line for building a team. You can travel faster if you travel solo. Every journey requires patience. These steps will build a team and help you move the team forward in your career.
